The current ECIPA turbocharger rules allow a maximum 4 inch diameter exhaust outlet and a maximum 3 inch diameter inlet with a "smooth bore" inlet cover. The alternative to this has been a GT-42 (3 inch max exhaust outlet and 3 inch max inlet) with an unaltered factory slotted inlet cover.
The proposed change would be to allow any brand/model 3 inch exhaust outlet maximum and 3 inch inlet maxiumum with a slotted cover (doesn't have to be a GT-42 anymore and slots are whatever they are). ANY EXHAUST LARGER THAN 3 INCH DIAMETER MUST HAVE A SMOOTH BORE 3 INCH INLET MAXIMUM.
So, if any new Outlaw turbo shows up, they will have to install a smooth bore cover, as they are now 3.6 inch on the exhaust.
